Red vs Blue

Description

Tried to figure out why blue gets pushed back when it’s surrounded by red. Or red pushed forward? It gives a neat ‘3D’ effect.

A friend on Facebook provided me with an answer:
'Red has a longer wavelength photon, therefore it takes longer to reach our eyes. Blue has the shortest one. We tend to see blue light first. This effect is more apparent when white light (equal amounts of red, green and blue) gets scattered around all over the place, like sunlight in the atmosphere or a concentrated beam of light in or behind a glass of milk. Because of that effect in natural light conditions and conditioning, we're used to seeing things further away be more bluish in daylight (when there is enough light to actually see colour of distant objects), while only things that are close enough (or have a much closer light source) will be very brightly red.
